Upgrading to Lion - Can you do clean through that?

Hello MacRumors.

I'll be selling my MBP to my dad, as I'll buy the new MBA 13" ultimate 😀

I was wondering if I have to do a clean install with Snow and then download / install Lion, or you get the opportunity to simply install Lion but everything else is removed when you upgrade?

Thanks for your time, and I wish everyone a good time with Lion and the new stuff 😉
