If your 8.86GB folder contains the following:
- A database named NoteStore.sqlite
- A folder named Media

Thanks. No it doesn't contain either of these.

Your post reads as though you weren't aware of my earlier linked post and the one linked in that. I am not looking for a how to restore as I have done successful test restores of deleted Notes as detailed in those posts, using ~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.apple.notes, which contains the all important Notestore.sqlite and the Media that you mention:

The point of my previous post was to point these other significant size Notes folders, which could easily confuse an attempted restore. The folder ~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.apple.notes is the important one. Do you think it is safe to delete the 8.86GB cache?...should get recreated if still necessary.

No problem. I was replying to the OP anyway as most replies on here were telling him how stupid he was, which doesn’t really help.

As a rule I don’t really clear anything if it’s doing no harm. I guess you could remove it, see if everything still works, and put it back if need be.

Thats generally my approach but 9GB doesn't quite fit in that category for me! Anyway I removed it and all seems to be well. It has not so far been recreated.

Great! After finally rebuilding my software collection, with some still missing, I committed another mistake which led to data loss... I copied the contents of the memory card not realizing I only copied 1 folder instead of 2 and now the action is irreversible and this time I lost pictures in JPEG and RAW format which can never be recovered...

I attempted data recovery upon realizing the mistake, however it was too late... The ones that showed up available for recovery I already have copied them but the ones that I need are completely gone... I was distracted before and it happened again... :(

It was just about 5 or 6% of the wipe process however most of the stored picture was wiped except for a few that I already have copies of... I have tried 2 different recovery software and I think they have identical result and going for a 3rd recovery software may not make a difference... When will I ever learn?
