Hey everyone,

Apologies if there are loads of threads about this....
I currently have an iPhone SE rose gold 64gb and am considering upgrading. My main reasons for this are battery life (I keep it on low power mode all the time and it doesn’t last the day - I have to charge it 2 times minimum) and the cameras (the front one is terrible and the back one is just average).

I was hoping Apple would release an SE2 but I can’t see it now. So.. I’m thinking of upgrading to the iPhone 8 or Samsung S10e. I buy my phones outright so so won’t be on a contract.

Which phone do you think would be best suited? Ideally, I’m looking for faster performance (the SE is slow now), a much better camera & a better display.

I know on paper that the XR is better but although I love the colours, I’m put off by the size.

So, as I’ll keep the next phone I buy for at least 2 years, would the iPhone 8 suffice or should I get the Samsung? I’ve had android devices before so could easily switch, but the fact that I have a 2017 iPad and 2016 MacBook (Both of which were purchased in 2018) is making me think I’m best off sticking to iPhone. Though I really do like the look of the S10e.

Any ideas would be most welcome!

If you want apple, the 8 is a great device, bigger than the SE obviously, but it´s easy to use one hand and fits every pocket.

The XR is much much bigger and heavier than the SE; if this concerns you, avoid the XR...

I went from SE to 8 and then to the XR; I really like the screen and battery life is insane, but it´s big, it really is.

Maybe you can try the X (or XS), it´s a little bigger and heavier than the 8, but If you want portrait mode, dual cameras, oled... don't know really how battery life is. In my case I returned it because of eye strain, but the size was way better (for me) than the XR.

I went from the 5S (so same size to the SE) to the 8. LOVED the size and weight of the 5S but of course the 8 is much, much better in everything else. It's heavier but you'll get used to it. The screen is much better too.

I considered the XR but it's quite big, to be honest. A XR Mini would be cool, but it's not gonna happen with them pushing all their new services now, so...

PS: And battery is great, too! But I'm on 12.1, haven't updated since day 1.

An iPhone with the size of the screen of the 8 would be the best... with no notch of course; but I think the proportions would be extrange no?

Yeah, I don't see it... they would have to make a new design and they already have 3 models available. Besides, they want to push their services and they need people to have big screens in order to do that.

To me the key is weight, really. But I understand you can't have a big screen and glass back and all that and a light phone at the same time.

what ever phone you wind up with you might want to bridge the 5G introduction gap where you live work.
In other words you buy this phone whatever and your next phone is 5G.
you appreciate performance

I went from the SE to the 8. It's worked well so far. The battery life seems better to me although I haven't measure it. Sometimes I sense the size difference but not usually. I think I made a good decision.
