Upgrading Ultra 2 to Ultra 3 - but does the Black finish hold up?

I've watched youtube videos showing the black DLC can be scratched but how bad is it? I used to have a Black Series 7 and it was very durable. The issue with the Ultra is the sharp bezel. I've definitely got some minor nicks on my natural titanium bezel. They are barely noticeable. Would those be ugly on a black watch?

Does anyone have photos of a year old Black Ultra?

I have one since nov 2024 and used it daily, I'm pretty clumsy so it got dropped a few times and hit some things but it looks almost like new. My MBP M4 have more usage scars. 😆
I would take another black without doubt

I went with a black U3 this time. Hope it holds up but if it doesn't it's a tool to be used

Here you can see, that the black DLC coating does have it's issues at all... But as always a matter of how you use your devices:

It definitely is not scratch resistant at all.

Yeah, matt black car paint. Touch up with toothpick or fine brush

I decided to stick with silver. I like the look of the black, but I don't want to worry about it. I have seen used Ultras on eBay and Facebook which have silver showing on the sharp edge below the screen. I think it is a design issue. They should have rounded that part of the case. I used to have several non-Ultra apple watches with DLC coating and those looked like new even with some scrapes.

I ended up ordering the black as the wife preferred it as well. Just waiting on FedEx.

My black AW6 stainless steel in black looks like new. It’s been banged into table corners, door frames, metal objects and even stucco. It doesn’t have any visible damage. I just came home with an Ultra 3 in black. Hope it’s just as tough.
