it should NOT be a problem if you have 0 monitors connected to the 4870.
but you can also try this. boot OSX, set the bootCD to startup in Startup Disk in system preferences, and then reboot, should work around the need for option key.

Tried that, same problem, it chimes again and again without getting to the apple logo - this is due to the compromised flashing (see #23).

s I have stated before, once a flash has gone badly and the Mac Pro loops the chime (usually without finishing it...ie, it interrupts itself) then you will HAVE to finish flash in a PC.

Did not work

So I had had a problem flashing the card.
I RMAed it & got a new one
I used Zeus without any problem (it was the exact same card - 11133-16-20R)
Yet, when rebooting, the card causes the same chime again & again.

I don't have time to try & sort it out so I RMAed card number 2 and did in the end pay up for the vastly inferior Apple upgrade card. Slotted it in, booted up and worked straight away.

So word of caution to those who want to try this that I, for one, could not get to work a card which has been reported as a candidate for flashing.

Hope this helps someone else

Much poorer  speedfr0g

You should listen TR advice and flash in PC, and you would not lose your time and money. It takes less than RMA card twice ;) unless you got no access to PC w PCIe or friend who has it.
