Hi,
Sorry for ANOTHER thread but I searched without finding what I was looking for...

Right now I have all 3G devices on my plan (no 4G LTE devices) and if I were to go out and buy the iPhone 5 for full price, would Verizon remove my unlimited since it is a 4G device??

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you pay full price for the phone, you retain unlimited data. I went from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5. My plan didn't change.

Device has nothing to do with losing your unlimited. Get a subsidized phone on your unlimited line, lose unlimited. Doesn't matter if it's an iPhone 5 or the dumbest dumb phone in the store.

I upgraded to the iPhone 5 through AT&T, it was subsidized and I still have my original unlimited data plan that I've always had (LTE is throttled after 5GB/month but 3G remains unlimited).

Maybe I'm not understanding the question.

You'll be fine. As long as you buy it outright you won't lose your unlimited. Moving from 3G->4G doesn't impact your unlimited.

On Vzw if you upgrade the primary phone via a subsidized phone, you lose unlimited. If you have multiple phones and buy a subsidized phone for one of the secondary lines, you keep unlimited. Buy outright, you keep unlimited.

Unless it has changed very recently.

You understood the question correctly. Like yourself, I'm on AT&T, as well. I received the same deal. :D

There seems to be a misunderstanding amongst some people.

Verizon-will take away unlimited data if you upgrade on that line
AT&T-will not take away unlimited data if you upgrade on that line

OP, this information (and the way to avoid losing unlimited on verizon) has been around for a while. Learn to use the search function.

The OP clearly states he's buying the device at full price. He will not lose unlimited data, regardless of carrier. Verizon will NOT take away unlimited if he updates that line at full price.

If you pay full price, you'll keep your unlimited data. That's exactly what I did; I upgraded from an iPhone 4s to the 5 and kept my unlimited data.

Additionally, you can add a $30 feature that allows unlimited use of the Personal Hotspot feature. I added that, and canceled my iPad data plan. It's cheaper ($30 for unlimited data via tethering vs. $50 for 5 GB of iPad data).

Thanks for the tip. I didn't think I could sign up for it, but I just logged in to check. It's definitely cheaper (work discount gives it to me for $24) than paying my iPad month to month access fee. I usually get the 2GB for $30.

How much data do you guys use a month, on average, with the unlimited plan? I have unlimited as well, but never go above 3GB. Time to switch?

Why switch? I have 3 grandfathered unlimited data plans under my account, since 2007. It would cost me more to do otherwise. Now, why would I do that? Two of the lines use some 3 to 4gbs per billing period. Myself, I upgraded from an iP2g. Since 9.21 I have used 1.5 gb and I have 6 days left in this billing period. With LTE and a newer iPhone now, I'll probably use more data rather than waiting until I get home. It's finally time for me to enjoy and use my unlimited data plan.
