Upload picture in private messages

I see that one can link a photo in a PM, but, unlike a typical post, one can not upload a photo in a PM. Is there a reason for this?

I've also been caught off guard by this restriction before.

I asked around and found out that users are not allowed to upload images in conversations. I don't know the reason for that limitation, but I'll ask arn to chime in.
