Uploading to iCloud

I just upgraded from 5 GB to 50. The cloud says I have 45 GB free but my finder tells me that the cloud is full - as if I still have only 5 GB. So what does that mean? And how do I make sure that all the folders and files I want backed up have been uploaded.

I've found I needed to log out and back in again for icloud to check. Worth a try. Check on any other iOS devices too, see if they report correctly.
