I have my user name/profile that I have and use the most, and then there is another user name/profile on my mac.

When I rebooted, it booted into the other user name, and not the one I usually use. How can I get it to log into my usual user profile upon a reboot?

Also my desktop photo keeps changing to one I had previously, and upon reboot, I have to go in and reset it. I use some of my own photos for my desktop, and keep them in their own folder.

I am on an intel mac mini 2018 running macOS Ventura.

Log into the user account you normally use.

Go to the "users & groups" pref setting.

Ventura may have changed things.
But you need to click "the lock icon" (used to be on bottom left) and enter your password.

Is there "login options" button? If so, click it.

Go to "Automatic login" and select the account you want to be logged in.
You may have to re-enter your administrative password.

Just wondering... did you just migrate data from an older Mac?

Thank you, found it.

Yes, I have migrated from an older mac, but I do not think I had it set to the other user name like it was here. I set it right now. It is odd, there are no lock icons around in the prferences, I get perompted for my password when I make a change.
