I wouldn't blame the whole company for individual worker's faults. USPS has the tendency to state attempted delivery and I never even hear a knock. Fedex throws my package from its truck to my door step. One of the UPS guys always walk up and knock on my door nicely. The tracking number is always delivered at the right time. While other UPS drivers will run up and place a note without knocking or toss the package up to the door step.

It's their policy to at least attempt to deliver every single package. If they left a note or the tracking says some sort of re-delivery, it's to save their own ass.

I'm speaking from over 19 years of shipping through them, business and personal, along with living in multiple parts of the country. Unfortunately it is a broader issue than any one driver or any one rep. Not every egg is rotten but there are far more rotten ones than in any of the other shipping companies I've dealt with regularly which include USPS, FedEx, DHL, and some smaller carriers.

I do agree with how USPS will say "delivery attempt" when they NEVER knocked on the door!

I ordered something once, the post office didn't even bring it to my door, she just left a "sorry we missed you" tag in the mailbox.

I raised hell, then finally they sent another truck to bring my package that night.

I told the guy if you're going to leave a tag, AT LEAST try to deliver it, knock on the door or something!

Next time I ordered something, I just happened to be by the mailbox and saw the mail carrier, she didn't even TRY to deliver it again, she got out of the truck with the notice in her hand, and it was only when I stopped her that she went in the truck to get the item.

I reported her with the quickness and I never saw her again.

One thing you need to consider is that you most likely weren't talking to an actual UPS employee. Most companies contract out to other no name companies for their phone support.

When I worked at Hilton, I actually WAS a Hilton employee. One of Hilton's call centers is in Tampa, so when you called any Hilton branded hotel on the planet, you most likely were speaking to an actual Hilton employee. When I worked with the American Express Membership Rewards program, we were NOT employees of American Express. Whenever you called to redeem points, you were speaking to a call center in Jacksonville, NC.

So this UPS tracker person most likely wasn't a real UPS employee and probably wasn't trained very well.
