If you live in a rural area like mine you can call UPS and have them hold your iPad(s) for you to come and pick up. I just gave them my tracking number and my phone number and they are going to call me when the package gets in. Score!

Early morning pickup? But which morning? Saturday? Or Monday?

If you haven't seen already, Apple has the iPad's all setup as a "special shipment" UPS or whatever carrier that has them has instructions not to release them or deliver until Saturday. No doubt you can get it Sat early am, likely faster then they would deliver it, but I wouldn't hold my breath they are going to give it to you prior to the 3rd.

I am in Nashville and just called to get mine held but he said they had to try to deliver at least once first. He also stated multiple times that it is going to arrive tomorrow before 10:30am... I don't know whether to believe this or not. This is the second ups rep that has told me this

I know someone that used this method to get his iPhone 3GS at midnight thursday. Not sure if he had to bribe anyone or anything shady. He probably knew someone that worked at the depot in richmond, va because he lives less than a mile from it.

Never really thought of getting it early (before Saturday). I just don't want to sit out all day on my doorstep waiting while everyone else that reserved at a store is getting them from 9 AM on. I guess I should have had more faith in "in-store pickup". This way, I don't have to kneel at the feet of UPS and wait for them just because I live in the middle of nowhere. I can go to the depot and pickup myself.

The lady I talked to at the UPS depot here locally said that she knew about the iPad and she said it is probably like Christmas for us. Ummm, no, better than Christmas. I guess she feels some pity for me and doesn't mind holding it for me. I guess I should have started with pickup on Friday and worked my way to Saturday to see if she would budge. Oh well, Saturday can't come any quicker for me.

FWIW. I just called UPS International Export/Import Services. The rep was familiar with the iPad deal. I asked her if she could tell if I will receive Saturday delivery, since we're rural and don't get Saturday deliveries. She checked and verified saturday deliveries are not available in our area. However, she checked to see if there were exceptions on the iPad shipments. She came back and told me they have special exceptions with the Apple shipment and I will indeed get mine on Saturday. I asked if this was on a city by city exception or if if was for everywhere. She "SAID" everywhere. This is what she said, but if you want to verify for your own peace of mind, you have to call this number:
