its all fixed now. Just reinstalled Leopard. Thanks for all the help even though it didn't work. It was my fault and I apperciate the help!

Ok here are all the settings i changed prior to reinstalling Leopard:

Under the system menu of Secrets i did the following:

Checked the box for "Beep feedback"
Changed the "Crash Dialog" from Basic to None
Unchecked the box for "Enable Quarantine" box
Changed the "LCD Font Smoothing" from Standard to Strong
Unchecked the boxes for "Leopard Appearance: Use Core UI" and "Use Leopard window values"
Secrets automatically had the boxes "Enable Quartz 2D Extreme" and "Quartz GL Enabled" checked

Under the Finder section i changed the following:

Desktop Icon size to 48 px
unchecked the animate get info panes box
unchecked ALL of the finder animation boxes
Checked the boxes for "Prohibit Animations" and "Prohibit access to iDisk" (since i dont use iDisk)
Disabled "Calculator" and "Dictionary" spotlight options

that is pretty much it other than enabling "Debug" menus for all programs that had the option

Oh and also i changed BeamSync from Automatic to Disabled (I suppose i could also change it to "Force")

Do not ever change the Core UI setting. It has nothing to do with the GPU. Do not change that setting.

Noted, and thank you!

(and an important reminder of the fact for me that I should never, ever change anything in Secrets or do anything in the terminal unless I know and understand exactly what I'm doing)

what is beep feedback anyway, my ibook and i believe my G5 both have that and idk what it does...
