The 2009 MBP had 3 models, 2.53GHz, with only the 9400M GPU and the 2.66 and 2.8Ghz models with both the 9400M and the 9600M GT, so check which one you would be buying for that 900 dollar machine.
If it is the 2.53GHz model that price seems a little high. (IMO)
Otherwise, I have been very happy with my 2.53GHz MBP, though it is getting a little old now, and compared with the new models it is about half as fast for intensive jobs. You may be better off buying a refurb 13" from Apple.

But according to the link I posted, the MB470LL/A is a 2008 model with 2.4 GHz processor and dual GPUs?

Sorry, thought that was a 2009, but the late 2008-mid2009 models also had NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT and GeForce 9400M GPUs, no 8600M GPU in that machine either so the previous post applies. Use the link I posted and download MacTracker, it has all the info you need to look it up yourself.
In any case, spending 900 dollars (US?) is getting really close to the price of a refurb.

I used to keep my MBP on my wood desk but I was afraid that eventually the desk would suffer some damage from the heat. I bought a cooling stand with two fans and now the MBP runs about two to three degrees cooler.

Some people will tell you they don't work but if you get the right one they can make a difference.

Or the price of a brand new Macbook Air and you have current hot off the press technology rather than stuff made 3-4 years ago. And if you need an ODD, buy an external one (I have a Samsung SE-S084D but an Amazon basics one does the trick equally as well) and have used it all of 1 times since i bought my current MBA in July! Out with the old, in with the new

Something similar with a 2007 iMac

What I noticed was a falling performance (upgraded memory) then the overheat, finally found out that the hard drive was the problem; changed it by myself (to 1TB), and now it is better than new.
