iPod URL does not work in itunes

Hi! The mp3 podcasts I want are not in the Itunes 'store'. I therefore copied the website URL and pasted it into Itunes. No podcasts were automatically transferred and if I refresh the URL in Itunes, nothing happens. What should I be doing?

You need an RSS feed to add a podcast manually, not a site url.

Thanks, what is an RSS feed? Do Itunes and ipods recognise an RSS feed? How does it work with an mp3 file?
