I think unlike the old days (iphone 3gs, 4) they're much better prepaired these days. i doubt you'll have to order any sooner than noon EST to get on on launch day. I'll probably stay up drag tomorrow, just to be safe :D

I agree. Even last year went much better than the iphone 4 launch.

so you really expect to get up at noon EST tomorrow and be able to pre-order an iphone5?

did i say that? I said last year people started seeing date changes around 11:00am est....8 PST. I was quoting and agreeing with the launch going better this year, as it went better last year than the 4 launch.

Lol, I like your outlook on it!

I appreciate it. $10 a month is a Tokyo Tea or two Vodka tonics for me I wont drink... No big deal.

Being almost BROKE because I paid $849 full retail, and eating off the dollar menu for two weeks... BIG deal.

I sold my iphone 4s for $415 on ebay. I should be fine using the money the person paid. And still have my money. No waking up early to stand in line.. No waiting a month or two... and I keep my data unlimited. Give and take lol

According to the ATT rep I was just on the phone with

I've got a line that will have an upgrade on OCT 29th of 2012.

They cannot move it up

She did say that the price to upgrade to the iPhone 5 would be $150 more than the subsidized price. I questioned this when she told me and she wasn't sure, she just said that its what her pricing chart has listed.

So for me the 32gb iPhone 5 should cost 449$. Not sure I believe that yet.

that doesnt sound right. Have you checked your eligibility thru the iphone 5 page on apple's site? It will tell you what you will currently pay and the date for your full upgrade discount.

If you are eligible for a full upgrade then its $199, $299, $399 for 16gb, 32gb, 64gb. If you are eligible for an early upgrade then add $250 to any of those prices and that's what you'll pay

I'm undecided if i'll just stay up till 3am or try and get some sleep first. Regardless I plan to keep the apple site up and ready. I've also setup express checkout in the apple store app on my phone so i plan to try that first.

I'm going to call ATT again and see.

Good idea on the express checkout. I will have to do that.

I'll wake up at 6 like I do for work and instead of hitting snooze for a while I'll just get up and order the phone.

I'll probably try to go to sleep as early as I can & then get up at about 2:45 and start attempting to order through the app. That's the only way I've gotten through the past 2 years. Once done, depending on how awake I am, I'll either stay up and go work out or go back to bed until 2 minutes before I have to start work. I work from home so I don't have to be presentable or pleasant. :)

After going through the insanity/debacle that was the pre-order for the 4S, I will NOT be waking up at 3 AM to try to get my pre-order in. I did this last year. Sales did not start till 45 minutes after they were supposed to. Servers were totally bogged down and order could not go through. Ended up going back to bed after trying for 2 hours. Woke up around 8:30 and placed my order then and it went right through. Still got it delivered on the first day.

I plan on waking up in the AM like I usually do for work and then ordering on my phone using the Apple store app, which by that point should be ok hopefully as all the crazy people will be done with their orders and Apple's servers will be less bogged down.

Will get a lot more sleep and still get it on the 21st. :D

Stay up and order. Set alarm in case I doze off.

Wake up tired and cranky in time for my 9am TC.

I'm working from home.

Good thing my TC is over by 11:30 as I shall use my lunch hour to take a nap.

This is for those of us on the East coast who have to be up early for work on Friday morning. I no longer have the luxury of a flexible work schedule, so tomorrow is going to be rough.

I'm looking at three options.

1. Sleep as early as possible after getting home from work and wake up at 2:45 with (hopefully) 6-7 hours of sleep.

2. Sleep at my normal time (23:30-1:00) for a few hours and hope to get some sleep again after preordering.

3. Stay up until the phone is preordered and hope to get any sleep afterwards.

Option 1 seems like the smartest but might be hard to pull off. I can't sleep when there are things on my mind, especially so early. Option 2 might work but I'd be afraid of over-sleeping.
I get the feeling I'll be pulling an all-nighter and powering through the day with 5-Hour Energy tomorrow.

Assuming preorders start at 3:00 AM Eastern, what's going to be your strategy?

How about just preorder after work? do you really need it at launch..

By the way, some of the other major web sites have mentioned that given the aggressive role-out that Apple has planned and announced yesterday, the supply chain is likely well stocked, otherwise they could not be planning to role out in so many countries so quickly.

Yes, I'd like it at launch. I haven't missed an iPhone launch yet and I'm a tech nut. I won't lose sleep over losing some sleep. :p

Man, I do remember last year's launch....all ready to go at 2:45am, Macrumors.com, Apple.com, att.com all up and running on different monitors, waiting for the minutes to tick down to 3:01...Then wham, nothing for 45 minutes, except chatting with all you fine people about losing sleep, our disdain for AT&T, etc. Hopefully this year it will be different and smoother, but if not, then I will talk to you all in the wee hours of the morning!
