Usage stats not making sense

Ok so I have a 16GB iphone 5s but I keep getting the low on storage message. After looking at the usage stats it just doesn't add up. As you can see from this screenshot it says I have used 11.6GB and have 515mb left.

Looking at the stats I can't see where 11.6GB have gone? Music 2.5, Photos 1.1 and it gets smaller from there. I only have 8 smaller apps beyond that screenshot!

What am I missing folks?

When you connect it to iTunes, how big is the other folder?

Hi, the other folder shows as 3.73GB. Apss are 560MB. Documents 126MB.

It actually says photos are 4.7GB which is way more than Usage shows!

Ok I have fixed it after a bit of online research. After visiting this page http://appducate.com/2013/01/reclaim-other-storage-space-on-ipad-iphone-and-ipod/ there are various things you can do to try and reset the 'other' folder. Although I didn't buy the app it suggested, none of the fixes worked until I did a backup and restore from iTunes.

I now have 8GB free whoop whoop!!

Hopefully this will help anyone else who has this issue.
