USB 3.0 and Mac

Hi,

I've searched the site and this forum and not found what I'm looking for so:

Is the use of USB 3.0 operating system dependent or can I use it on my current Mac's by adding the appropriate interface cards?

My Mac's:
Desktop 2.66 Quad Xeon

MacBook Pro Santa Rosa

The reason I care -- I've just bought another Voyager from OWC and it is coming with USB 3.0 and esata.

If I can run 3.0 I will.
