I am looking to install Windows 10 on external drive, and I am wondering what's more compatible (aka less headaches) an SSD in a USB 3.0 enclosure or an SSD in a thunderbolt enclosure?

Without doubt a TB drive. Some (not all) USB drives are an absolute pig to get working with Windows. I went through a Seagate and WD before giving up and moving across to TB.

Yeah I just find tb convenient. Tb with a ssd. Reliable.
