Hi!

I have a macbook pro 15 late 2011 that has 2 usb port 2.0 and one thunderbolt port. My question is: if i use a thunderbolt dock (like belkin one) and connect to it an usb 3 drive, will it use the full bandwidth of usb3 or will be limited by usb 2.0 of the macbook pro?

thanks in advance!

It will be limited to the 2.5 Gb/s bandwidth of the Belkin.

I suggest the Caldigit TB dock instead. That one gives the full 5 Gb/s bandwidth of USB 3.0. I use it on my early-2011 15" MBP and it works like a charm.
