Hi all,

for the sake of cleaning up my desktop I‘ve bought a 3-in-1 charging cable, USB-A to Lightning/Micro-USB/USB-C... (because I couldn’t find a long enough USB-C version)... I want to charge an iPhone 12 Pro, an iPad Pro 2018 and the occasional Micro-USB-Device...

Only question remains: Whats the fastest USB-A charger for iPhone and iPad?

Thanks!

The highest wattage you can get through a USB-A port is 12 watts (unless you are charging devices that support Qualcomm QuickCharge, which I don’t think any Apple devices do) so your best bet is to go with an Apple 12 watt charger or a 12 watt charger from a reputable brand like Anker.

hm, ok, thank you. I was hoping for 18w...

Now that I am looking further into it, it seems that those multi cables do not support fast charging at all, regardless of the charging brick... And charging the iPad pro with 5W isn‘t fun... :D

might have to use 3 chargers and 3 cables again. Might tape the cables together, though... ;)

You're not going to get more than 2.4A / 12W from a USBA port as mentioned above, and those 3-in-1 cables aren't typically intended to be used with multiple devices simultaneously.

I'd suggest something like this:

or this:

The attach separate cables for each device you'll be charging.

Or look at any of the various multi-device charging stations on the market.

Thanks... I don’t want to charge multiple devices at the same time... Just one at a time, but with the same cable...

Problem being: Apparently those cables are not very high quality... As said, I now went with multiple chargers (which doesn’t bother me) and taped the cables together... :)
