can you still use the usb flash drive for other stuff after you put lion on it?

Are you talking about what happens to the USB drive after you flash the Lion installer onto it? If so, the drive itself is still writable, so you can still add a folder into it as well as other documents and files. I carry around a Windows 7 USB installer along with a few tools and updates I put on a fresh machine. Same thing can happen with the Lion installer.
