i have a imac g5 with a EMPTY hard drive in it. i put the tiger.dmg on a usb but how do i boot from it?

I just did this today on an iMac G5, install from USB Drive on an 2. USB Drive. The internal SATA died on me.

A much more reliable way to boot from USB is to "burn" the image to the flash drive. In Disk Utility, you would use the "restore" function to "restore" the image to the desired volume.
