USB-C AirPods not recognised in case - possible design flaw?

My AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with USB-C charging case stopped recognising the AirPods unless I wiggled them around for ages. I'd only warn them once so it was not a build up of sweat.

I've had the case and AirPods replaced with entirely new ones and out of the box the news ones have exactly the same problem. I never had this problem on the Lightning version so I wonder if there's an issue with the new version?

Has anyone else experienced similar?

Hello, I have had AirPods replaced once and I have had the same issue, impossible to pair them with the case.

Just to understand clearly your problem :

You have had an AirPods replacement, (both of them?) and you kept the case ?

OK, I just got the new ones also, since when do you have them and since when do you have the problem ?
