Ive been searching for such a hub for a few days, but right now, pretty much all usb-c hubs on the market are either no-cable-direct-connect like the Satechi ones, or with a super short cable like apple ones.

what I wanted is to have a long cable from my MacBook (probably the 2m usb-c/thunderbolt 3 cable), connecting to the hub, and then a short (or another 2m cable would be even better) cable to the power brick for charging. therefore, all hard drive and other accessories are hidden away from the sight along with the power brick.
there are tons of regular usb3 hubs with interchangeable cables on the market, but none of them are usb-C so they won't charge the MacBook, why can't anyone just make one of those with USB-C?

does such products even exist? or does anyone have any information/suggestion?

much appreciated

They are coming. Other World Computing (macsales.com) has a USB-C/TB3 dock coming and so does Belkin. They have longer cables like that and are detachable. They are true docks, no little hubs like are available now. They will also be able to power a MBP 15" (so a 13" would not be an issue either). I'm getting by on the short ones now and waiting for the big ones coming :)

yeah I know those two, but just like you said they are more of a dock than a hub, and they will require external power supply....

still I'd prefer a simpler, smaller hub, I just need to plug in some flash drive, iPhone, sd cards, etc from time to time.

I plan on one of the docks for the desk. However, for on the go work, I currently use the HooToo shuttle (Amazon). It has pass through power, USB 3.0 x 3, SD and HDMI. It's been very reliable since I've had it (Aug 2016) but it does have the shorter cord. In the meantime, I think of these may work! https://www.amazon.com/Cable-CableCreation-10Gbps-Female-Extension/dp/B01FM4ZWV0/
