I just noticed that the current generation of iMacs doesn't have a USB-C port. Although they have thunderbolt ports. Any ideas why this is? Are iMacs yet to be updated or is it something only MacBooks are getting?

Because Apple decided not to include USB-C last fall - I'm not trying to sound flip, but they have internal reasons that they did not disclose.
People are expecting to an update in the fall, and there is an expectation that we'll see TB3 and USB-C
