I just received my new 2021 MBP 16" and was looking at getting a monitor and found that some monitors can be used as a dock if they support USB-C PD. This sounds awesome, the monitor I was looking at https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/346E2CUAE_27/ultrawide-lcd-monitor#see-all-benefits said to verify your laptop will work (see below). I'm not a gamer I just want a large monitor to check blueprints and was going to research hubs also so thought this would do the trick! Will it work?
  • For USB-C power and charging function, your Notebook/device must support USB-C standard Power Delivery specifications. Please check with your Notebook user manual or manufacturer for more details.

You are looking for a USB-C Hub that has a USB-C Power Delivery (USB-C PD Port). I have used the NOVOO 8-in-1 USB-C Hub with my 2019 Macbook Pro. Depending on how your monitor works, you can use the additional HDMI port to connect to your monitor.

No, the monitor that the OP mentions can connect via USB-C and supports USB-PD at 65W. Given that, there is no need for a USB-C hub as the monitor has the equivalent built-in.

@OP: I'm not familiar with the charging requirements of your 2019 MBP. If it can charge from a USB-PD power supply and doesn't require more that 65W then it would work with a single connection to this monitor.
