Or after I bring it back from sleep.

I have a controller keyboard connected to a USB-C port on the Mac mini M4 (MacOS 26.1) and if I leave the pc for any length of time or stop using the keyboard, or the pc does the sleep mode thing, I lose the USB connection and I need to unplug and re-insert the USB-C cable to restore the connection.

Is there a way to prevent such a thing happening?

Hi

What is a "controller keyboard"? 🤔

Honestly I don't know a solution but to update to the latest macOS version.

thanks guys - yeah had a full look at System and there is nothing there (afaics) like the USB settings control there is under W11. Not comparing as MacOS is better for me, but yeah a bit more user control over these would be nice!

I did read that by connecting a hub to the M4 and then connecting the controller to the HUB could possibly bypass this so I am trying that now. The comment stated that a direct connection to a USB-C port meant the system would then shut it down on inactivity, but as it was a hub it retained power at all time....Dunno of that was just so much BS, or it works, but, yeah, giving it a try 🙂

We are talking about Windows 11? In a virtual machine?
hahaha no! I see you are from Germany - perhaps the translation made it confusing?

No, I was referring to the USB device editing on a W11 machine. Simply pointing out the difference and that such depth of control on MacOS would be nice 🙂

Eh no. I was confused you first said it's plugged in to your M4 Mac Mini and second you wrote something about Windows 11. So I thought you meant that you use your MIDI controller primarily in a virtual machine with Windows 11, who doesn't work properly. This confused me, not a translation. Mostly not needed.

not really sure how you interpreted what I wrote to mean running W11 in an VM/emulator but whatever 🙂
