Hi,
I'm looking for someone with experience with a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter for the 2016 MacBook Pro (13").
I want to connect it to my Dell P2415Q. Unfortunately it seems Apple doesn't offer an official one (the TB3-to-TB2 specifically mentions it doesn't do DisplayPort) so I have to rely on 3rd party ones.
The first one I bought (from Aukey) worked fine, as in it transported 4k at 60Hz, but it caused horrible Wifi interference. As soon as I plugged in the adapter my 15ms ping to google spiked to 1000ms and after a few seconds the wifi was down for good.
At first I thought it was a software error so I waited 2 whole iterations of OS X (bought it months ago), but this didn't help anything. The "revelation" only came when I noticed that my iPhone which lied next to the laptop was also losing Wifi connectivity as soon as I plugged in the adapter (the router is in the same room only a few feet away with direct LoS), leading me to believe it is a physical problem.
I googled a bit and found this to be a (somewhat) common problem with high bandwidth USB accessories. Unfortunately most reviews, especially for 2016MBP gear are not really helpful since the interference is only in the 2.4GHz band, not in the 5GHz band and lots of people use 5GHz already (knowingly or unknowingly). But due to the way my network is setup at home I can't use 5GHz Wifi even though my router supports it (I actually use the 5GHz band as a bridge to a different network).
I also would feel better (without sounding like a tinfoil hat hopefully) if my accessories wouldn't blast garbage noise strong enough to render Wifi useless into the air all the time even if it doesn't directly affect me.
So I'm looking for someone with experience who uses a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter AND 2.4GHz Wifi to recommend me one that doesn't have this problem before I go out and buy 5 which are useless again
I'm based in Germany so it'd be great if it was on Amazon, but at this point I'll take anything if only for reference.
Thanks!
tl;dr Does someone know a USB-C to DisplayPort (1.2) adapter for a 2016 13" MBP that is properly shielded to not cause interference with 2.4GHz WiFi? kthxbye
