Is a USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable better for 4K@60hz output. Using a MacBook Pro connected to LG 27UL850 4K monitor. What brands are recommended? TIA

The monitor supports USB-C input and 60W laptop charging. I'd use a USB-C connection for all. This way you can use the monitor as a charging dock. As it will do charging, video, USB 3.0 output and speaker/headphone jack. Make sure to use a 60w or greater rated USB-C cable.

This is assuming your Macbook is recent enough for Thunderbolt 3 and only needs a 60w charger. Which I don't think will work for the 15/16 inch models and need separate power.

If it is an older Macbook. You should connect the Thunderbolt 1/2 port to the Displayport via a Mini Displayport to Displayport cable.

Bump.

I have the same monitor, and as the original title request, would like recommendations for a USB-C to HDMI that is stable.

I am already using the USB-C input for my MacBook Pro, I'm looking to take advantage of of the monitor's HDMI input 4K @ 60Hz, fed from my iMac Pro.
