USB C to HDMI cable to external monitor question

Hey everyone,

If I purchase a USB c to hdmi cable and connect it from a 2016 MacBook pro to a external 1080p monitor, will the cable also charge the laptop or so I need to use an additional port for charging?

I've never heard of this, not even with hdmi 2.0. You could be confusing this with hdmi dongle that has power delivery.

It won't charge it. HDMI-anything isn't going to give you power for the MBP.
