    Hey everyone,

If I purchase a USB c to hdmi cable and connect it from a 2016 MacBook pro to a external 1080p monitor, will the cable also charge the laptop or so I need to use an additional port for charging?

I was watching in another review that it would perhaps its only USB c to USB c that charges it while providing external video and sound.

Can anyone confirm that a USB c to Hdmi cable won't charge the MacBook Pro while connected to a power supply from a external monitor.

I've never heard of this, not even with hdmi 2.0. You could be confusing this with hdmi dongle that has power delivery.

It won't charge it. HDMI-anything isn't going to give you power for the MBP.

Ah I understand, sounds like it's only a USB c to USB c connection that would give power.
