I just got a USB-C 0.3m genuine apple watch charger to use to charge my S4 watch with my M1 MBA and it KEEPS disconnecting like it looses power to the cable.

Sometimes my watch charges 5-10% and sometimes it gets to 91% and stops charging for the rest of the night so it drains back. I tried to use a usb-c brick and that works, but I bought it to charge with my mac.. Mac is plugged into power the entire time

I did charge my phone with the mac the following night to see if it was the port, but its not apparently..

Anyone else have this issue? Both are updated to latest OS and tried resetting the power on both.

Is your Mac going to sleep when the watch stops charging?

Probably the USB C port on the MBP doesn't do trickle charging very well. I have to set my Anker batteries to trickle charge and even then the watch charging cable doesn't like them. It's gotta be on a wall power outlet for it to work really well. There's something special about the watch charger that is unique - the voltage it asks for. <shrug>. I've just resigned to bringing a wall adapter for my watch when I go on work trips. I can't tell you why it doesn't work, but doesn't work for me either.

I have the same cable and use it with my 2017 MBP (on a S4 and S6 AW) with no issues. I know that possibly doesn't help but I'd be amazed if Apple changed this to NOT work on a new model laptop.

Have you got another USB C cable that you can try on something else i.e. iPhone / Headphones.
