Hi, I've configured the USB ports on my PC to allow charging while sleeping. MicroUSB devices charge, but my iPhone 7 Plus will not. Does anyone have any ideas why?

Thanks

Could be not enough power output to produce a charge in the iPhone. Not an expert but a possibility. I had a non powered usb hub once that wouldn’t charge a phone.

Thanks, that is probably the reason. I've tried a number of devices with microUSB with different power requirements and they all charged though. I doubt the iPhone has a higher requirement than those.

Some PC manufacturers manage USB power in the BIOS.

Thanks for the reply. Correct, that is one of the changes I had to make to allow the ports to stay on. The question is why do microUSB devices charge, but the iPhone won't? The motherboard/BIOS doesn't differentiate (or detect) the device while in a sleeping state, it simply maintains power to the ports.

Have you tried different cables. Is the cable you're using Apple OEM or 3rd party? In my experience some 3rd party lightning cables paired with 3rd party power sources don't always play well with some iOS devices.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, unfortunately. I've tried different ports too. Very strange

OK, thanks. I'll give it a try with the phone off to see if it slowly charges and report back.

Could be the demand to charge the iPhone is greater than your other micro-usb devices. Especially if you iPhone is turned on. There are different demands for different devices.
