Hey. I am looking for a docking station, but one of the things I normally hate about dockingstations is that you have to buy a new one each time you get a new computer. But then I found this USB-dockingstation from targus:

Does anyone have any experiences with USB-dockingstations?

Is this dockingstation MAC/Linux compatible? If not, do you know any other usb-dockingstations which are?

Are there any disadvantages to USB-dockingstations from normal dockingstations?

It's an interesting idea, although I wonder... how much of it can't you just do with a USB hub? If you buy a powered USB hub and plug your mouse and kb into it, and use USB speakers, you're pretty close to what this does. It seems like, without having a video port, it's quite limited.

I see, that Docking Station does not have any video port. But this does:

It does although only seem to have 16bit color. Are there any 32-bit video docking stations?

If you look, that one actually does 32 bit color, just not at 1280x1024. It does it at all the other resolutions. Unfortunately, not very many resolutions that would sit well with a modern LCD.... :(

The only company I know of that actively develops docks for Macs is this one:

    http://www.bookendzdocks.com/

And they're not what you're looking for. I don't know if anyone is trying to adapt the USB docks to Macs. I guess it would be nice. I have no idea how hard it would be.
