USB Drive Question

I have a 32 Gig USB drive plugged into my iMac, when I click on "get info" it says capacity 32g available 12g but there is nothing on the drive.....did I do something wrong if so how do I fix this

Have you looked at what Disk Utility reports?
And what Mac with what Mac OS X version do you use?

trash was empty.... I used disk utility and erased the drive and it worked
