Whenever I delete files from my USB pen drive, the same amount of data is still being occupied on it. Free space doesn’t show up once I delete things – I always have to reformat the pen drive to get the space back. Now, this problem only recently started for me. Is it just my drive, or is there a certain way to format the flash drive with disk utility?

make sure that you have emptied that trash while the drive is plugged in and then you should get the space back.

yes, delete whatever files you want to delete, then immediately empty the trash. (this only happens on a mac)

finally found an answer

thanks for the info.: I couldn't figure out what was happening as my flash drive said full when I had been deleting all files from it. Emptied the trash, as you said, on my Imac, and yes! flash drive now has lots of space.
