USB formatted as MS-DOS FAT not compatible in Windows

I've already used my USB on both Windows and Mac... not sure what happened, suddenly stopped working.

On Mac it reads just fine, but when plugged in on Windows a pop up appears and wants me to format the USB.

The format is MS DOS FAT, with Master Boot Record..

Am I doing something wrong here ?

I need it to work on both Windows and Mac.

Well, FAT with MBR should definitely work on Windows. Dunno why it isn't. But you could try letting Windows format it, or formatting it as ExFAT

Get a SECOND flash drive and format that one on the PC.

Take the SECOND drive to the Mac, connect it, and also connect the FIRST (problem) drive.

Now, copy everything from the problem drive to the SECOND drive.

Re-initialize the problem drive on either the Mac or PC...
