USB Hardrive

Hey guys is it possible with some sort of tweak to use a USB harddrive as a boot drive for macosx?

afaik the "sort of tweak" you'd need would be to take the hard drive out of the usb enclosure and put it in a firewire one

but seriously, it'll only boot from a firewire drive iirc

but im sure someone'll prove me wrong

Actually, on macoschints.com they have a guide for getting a PPC Mac to boot from a USB drive ... but it involves modifying Open Firmware ... so beware. If you have no idea what Open Firmware is, then you might want to avoid this ... but otherwise, you could really benefit from it if it works so here's the link:
