So funny they call it "SuperSpeed".
It will probably be considered very slow 10 years from now. What will they come up with then? "HyperSpeed"?
Remember video card resolutions? VGA? Super VGA? Ultra? Extra? Wtf VGA and who knows more?

This rename should be filled under the BS folder because what it really seeks is to allow everybody to name everything 3.2 and therefore trick and bs customers

"Ludicrous Speed".

"They've gone to plaid!"

What’s MOST impressive about all this is that with the arrival of USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (née USB 3.2), they’ve officially released a spec that runs at half the speed of late 2015’s Thunderbolt 3.

The difference is the cost of the cables.

Cables currently qualified for USB 3.1 will now run at double the speed.

Thunderbolt 3 needed entirely new cables.

I think there is a competition between USB and HDMI for who can be the most stupid with their standards. HDMI may just be winning with their insistence products should not list their HDMI version, which is detrimental to customers. But USB have taken a big leap forward with this step.

Wow, they need to stop acting all nerdy with the rebranding. Just leave the standards alone. If you develop a new speed, call it something new. Unless you want consumers to switch protocols.

It's time to stage an intervention with USB-IF. They have gone nuts - USB 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, etc. made perfect sense and they've replaced it with an ever-changing mishmash of confusion and idiocy. What do they smoke at the meetings? Or do they just watch Trump speeches all day?

This crap right here is why I am in no rush for Apple to ditch lightning. It’s bad enough you have no idea whether a given USB-C cable will handle TB 3 or will charge at 85W (or one or the other or neither). Now you are going to have a buttload of other variations to worry about. Good luck.

Seems like they should have just gone with USB 3.1.5 Gen 0x3 to make it less confusing.

Going forward, USB 3.1 Gen 1 (transfer speeds up to 5Gb/s), which used to be USB 3.0 prior to a separate rebranding, will be called USB 3.2 Gen 1, while USB 3.1 Gen 2 (transfer speeds up to 10Gb/s) will now be known as USB 3.2 Gen 2. What used to be considered USB 3.2 will now be USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 because if offers twice the throughput speeds of USB 3.1 Gen 2, now USB 3.2 Gen 2.

What a fkn mess, Thunderbolt 3 that’s on all macs using type-c is 40, twist of the the new USB-C spec and Thunderbolt 3 can do USB and as it is faster should all macs with Thunderbolt 3 can’t just do the 20 now

And what do macs have now, 3.1 or 3.2, I don’t care what the fk they call it I have USB 4.0 and Thunderbolt 3, the history is really USB 1.0 1.1 2.0 3.0 4.0 and now 5.0
Just stop fk around and keep it simple

That is definitely almost certainly quite not, not clear except for the parts where it isn't as not unclear as the parts that are clearer than the unclear parts weren't but now are, having previously been clearer when they were clear, or at least planned to be clear after the non-less clear parts that will be understood to be clear once the clarity of the original intent is ultimately uncovered. What could be clearer?

In Spaceballs, before Ludicrous speed comes Ridiculous speed and that's what this will be retroactively renamed to. 3.0 =0.5gbps superspeed, 3.1 =1.0gbps ridiculous 3.2 =2.0gbps ludicrous, it was simple to understand from bold.
