Over in the USB 3.0 thread, user Fiatlux says that his Lexar card reader is unreliable hooked directly to his FL1100-based card, but that connecting the Lexar to the USB card via a powered USB 3.0 hub in between fixes the problem.
I hesitate to mention it at all because it's only one post, and I'm definitely not making any promises. However, based on that one post I'd assume that if you have a powered USB 3.0 hub anyway, you could probably use the Lexar. I don't know if a non-powered HUB will work, and I very much doubt a simple extension cable would do the trick. So if you have a powered hub anyway, and you like the Lexar, I'd say it's worth a try. Just order it from a place with a good return policy.
Personally, I use an el-cheapo card reader ($8) and it's been 100% reliable for me, but it doesn't have compact flash, it's not dual slot, and in any case it's plugged into a powered USB hub just like that guy's Lexar is.
