How does the USB port connect to the motherboard? Looking at the internals on Apple's website, there is no connector shown. Also, what would prohibit another USB port on the opposite side? It wouldn't add to the thickness.

Remember, the audio jack is on the other side. They could probably find a way to put a usb-c and audio jack on the same side, but looking inside the machine there is a small board for the usb-c that resembles the dc in board on the macbook pro.

Eventually, they'll probably figure it out.
