USB ports not working Need advice on options

I purchased a macbook 2,1 a little over one year ago. Recently my USB ports stopped working so I took my computer to an apple store to get it checked out. They basically said that the entire logicboard will need to be replaced and it will cost about $400. My warranty has expired and I need help. If anyone has any advice on any other option I can use besides buying another logicboard it would be very much appreciated.

You have to let Apple do it (or an qualified Apple Service depot). A logic board requires a lot of work and its not a end-user friendly switch. You be better off letting Apple do it.
