Hey folks, I picked up a cheap rotary volume control hoping to find something similar to the old Griffin model.
I was not holding my breath, but it works fine in Finder (Sonoma). Anyone got any ideas as to how to recreate the old Griffin softwares ability to "bind" it to iTines/Music?. Being able to hit that giant mute button or have someone else turn down the volume is great, without switching to Music

While I'm not sure about stand-alone rotary controls, I have several keyboards that have a rotary control on them which can be programmed to control volume, mute, play/pause, etc., although they don't have per-app configurability.

The control turns volume up and down, and mutes.
With the old Griffin software, you could assign the “volume dial” to be anything you wanted- fast, slow, up, down either as a systemwide control or on each individual app. Tapping the mute button, acts as a mute, pause or anything else you wanted as an on/off control. if memory serves me right, you could even hit the mute/on off two or three times in rapid succession in order to get even more settings
The real purpose of this is to be able to control iTunes/music volume while I’m on the net or in pages
