I'm just a caveman, some of your scientists unfroze me.
Your technology and iPads scare me.

As a lawyer, I regularly attend seminars, and more and more, seminar materials are in PDF form, and handed out via a USB thumb drive. The iPad would be a great tool to take to seminars, but it doesn't have a USB drive. How then would I get a thumb drive into an iPad?

P.S. - Despite this obvious (even if temporary) shortcoming, I pre-ordered on day 1 a 32 gb Wi-Fi iPad.

Just did this exact thing at a conference I am out now. I put the drive in my laptop and used readledocs to transfer the files using a mapped drive. I too would like to be able to do this without a laptop and wifi being required.

Solution depends on the usb drive...

Hi everyone!
I believe this is my very first post on this wonderful forum.
I've been playing around my new Jailbroken iPad2... Bought this Camera kit from eBay, and all worked perfect, from the video out to the SD and micro SD card including the sync (mini usb cable) port. The usb port would work great if connected to a digital camera. It wouldn´t read my Kingston usb thumb drive.
After reading that Apple prevented this from working due to a usb power issue I had pretty much given up...
Today I borrowed from my wife the 3 usb thumb drives that she uses:
1- TakeMS SlimLine
2- TakeMs Drive Mini
3- Memup Pop Key
Connected all three of them and guess what?! All three work perfectly!! Full access from iFile and therefore I was able to open, copy, view and edit documents, photos...
So the bottom line is (to me) it deppends on the power usage that the usb stick needs... the three listed above worked (formated on FAT and FAT32).
Hope this helps!
Cheers from Portugal!

Witch company of usb is best for ipad 2??
i have imation 4gb but ipad doesn't want him it say isn't battery strong for ipad!!
please hel me and soory for bad english!!!

Since the camera kit works well with SD cards, why not carry an SD card and a USB SD Card Reader. They make many of these SD card readers that look and work just like a USB flash drive. You could insert the SD card and give to the colleague to use as a flash drive, then take the SD card out and use the SD adapter from the kit for your iPad (instead of trying to get a flash drive to work on the iPad.)

Just wait for the ipad 3 in the spring. They'll also fix the screen resolution to close to the iPhone ~340 dpi. And a standard musb charging port which can be used for thumb drives etc
