USB Type C to Lightning Adapter

I would like to use my charger and cable from my MacBook to charge my iPhone and iPad. I purchased a USB C to Lightning Adapter from Amazon and it didn't work. Anyone know of a reliable brand? I'm hoping for just the little adapter not an entire cable.

I think I will order another brand and give them a shot.

The problem is I don't want an entire cable, I want to just carry the tiny little adapter for the end of my existing cable
