The first device you plug in will configure the port, so always connect USB 3 capable hubs or devices first.

Am I wrong in thinking that the configuration of the usb3 port as usb2 with a usb2 device is only referring to daisy chain situation - and it doesn’t mean that the usb3 port will remain configured(ever after) as usb2 if I put my usb2 keyboard for instance into that port first?

Thanks for pointing me in right direction. Think I just might take the wireless keyboard and make sure I plug in a usb3 device initially just to be safe.

just to be safe.

do you really think that plugging a USB2 device in will permanently cripple a USB3 port?

it means if you plug a usb2 hub into your computer, then plug a USB3 drive into that hub, you're only going to get USB2 speeds, since the hub is plugged in first.

at the worst, it will configure it tiill the next reboot.

another question for you
If you make a face can your face get stuck like that?
