I was using a NanoTech USB3.0 ExpressCard on my 17" late 2011 MacBookPro (16GB with 10.13.6) for years without issue. Recently, the card just died. It won't even power my external laptop cooler fan.

I had an extra card on-hand, but have problems. It's a USB 3.0 dual-port AKE ExpressCard adapter. The ExpressCard says NEC UPD720202 Chip on the label. When I attach my external USB3 RAID, it is extremely slow to be recognized, extremely slow to navigate the folders, and extremely slow to load anything. It's actually much faster if I connect the RAID to one of my USB2 ports.

If I check SYSTEM REPORT, it says:

ExpressCard:

Type: USB eXtensible Host Controller
Driver Installed: Yes
MSI: Yes
Bus: PCI
Slot: ExpressCard
Vendor ID: 0x1912
Device ID: 0x0015
Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x1912
Subsystem ID: 0x0015
Revision ID: 0x0002
Link Width: x1
Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s

Any idea what is wrong, why it is so SLOW? Is there a conflict? Do I need to install a new driver or get an update?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You should also see the USB bus from the card in the USB section of System Report, does it show that the devices are connected at USB 3 speeds?

Under USB in SYSTEM REPORT:
USB 3.0 Bus:

Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBXHCIPCI
PCI Device ID: 0x0015
PCI Revision ID: 0x0002
PCI Vendor ID: 0x1912

Elite Pro Dual:

Product ID: 0xa3a8
Vendor ID: 0x1e91
Version: 2.07
Serial Number: RANDOM__C86DA02D6BA9
Speed: Up to 5 Gb/sec
Manufacturer: OWC
Location ID: 0x00200000 / 1
Current Available (mA): 900
Current Required (mA): 8
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

When I connect my USB3 Elite Pro Dual RAID, there's a brief flicker of light activity, then nothing for a LONG time. It may be 5 minutes, probably longer, before the drive might show up. If I connect to the USB2 port, it shows straight away. No problems are reported with the RAID.

Once the RAID does appear, everything about it is EXTREMELY SLOW. Even ejecting the drive is EXTREMELY SLOW.

I found this. It might be an updated driver.

The description at the bottom says something about needing Clover, but I don't know what that is or how it's used, or if that's all I need.
this looks like something for Hackintosh (running Mac OS on non Apple hardware)
