For all of those people not seeing any need for a faster interface... My iPad is full and it takes forever to sync. I sure wish the interface were faster...

For all those not understanding that the syncspeed isn't limited by the USB-transferspeed... The USB-transferspeed is not the bottleneck. Upgrade to 4.2 for faster sync.

not true. it is OEM like Dell and HP who will make it mass. HP and Dell already have USB3

No they don't, not on the motherboard. They use an additional card to make this work.

Intel not supporting USB3 is big. I really think they will drag heels until lightpeak is out. It will leave USB3 in the dust provided it takes off, which I assume it will since Intel is behind it.

I don't really see directly USB in the iPad 2 or iPad 3, maybe the iPad 4 with iOS 7
I don't remember where I read that Apple will need to join some EU Movement of universal connectors, I don't see apple being forced to do anything since they're apple, but it would be cool to have something faster and simpler than the Dock Connector

However, I think that Apple will rather go completely wireless than changing their dock saga, WiFi Syncing and Wireless charging would more likely IMO, it would make the device a pretty cool thing

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

2007-2008 30 pin to USB was slow.

2008-2009 I think, in iOS 3 they decreased how long it took to sync.

2009-2010 iOS4 syncing is slightly faster than iOS3.

2010-2011 I think they'll introduce Light Peak in their Macs; however, as people have already said, Apple will need to put in "faster" SSD's in their iDevices to even be bottlenecked by USB 2.0, no matter about USB 3.0 and Light Peak.

2011 - 2012 I think this is when cloud iTunes is introduced and wireless syncing; however, you still control you music and movies on iTunes and only in your home.

2012 + "full" wireless syncing is introduced; I don't know how Apple will do it, but I think that you will be able to sync anywhere there is wifi or 3G.

my point was to copy big storage, whether it is blueray, one file or many files.

don't you have the need for big storeage and speed? High def content is the reality. you can't download quickly from itune with current internet speed
You can download HD movies very quickly, I can anyway, and my internet isn't even as fast as you can get in the US.

...

even if the current ipad was capable of it you can be sure apple would put a chip into the dongle so that only the new ipad could benefit from it and it would be up to the jailbreak community to try to hack it to enable on older devices even though they were already capable. That is just typical Apple lately, can't fault them they are coming off the era of disposable ipods and are treating cell phones that are tied to 3 year contracts and expensive tablet PCs in the same manner as they treated ipods...throw away every year or two
