I've been having issues with Address Book. I sync with my company's Exchange server. When I look at Groups in Address Book, it appears that my Exchange account is stored locally (with an address book icon). There is also an online/server group (with a blue icon).
However, when I looked at the "On My Mac" group, there were no contacts in that group - it's like they weren't stored locally. When I tried to search using spotlight, contacts would not come up. Other programs (for instance the new FaceTime app) didn't recognize any contacts from my address book (even though they seemed to be stored in a local group - my Exchange account).
To try and rectify the problem, I copied contacts from my Exchange group and pasted them in the "On My Mac" group. Lo and behold, contacts now come up in search, and they also appear in other apps (such as FaceTime). I also have duplicate contacts under "All Contacts".
My question, is there a way to keep my Exchange group (again, which seems to be stored on my machine) in sync with my "On My Mac" group? Or is there a way to allow my "Exchange" group to be indexed for Spotlight and used in 3rd party applications?
Right now, I am just planning to copy contacts into the "On My Mac" group every few weeks. This isn't an ideal solution (it's manual and I have to manage/delete duplicate contacts).
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
