You'd have to use the OS restore discs that came with your MDD to get OS 9 on it.

I just went back to OS9.2.2 this afternoon. I'm still configuring it, but i like it. My Pismo, albeit maxed out (aside from G4 and SSD) was sluggish even with basic tasks as office of basic browsing on Tiger.

Any retail OS 9 disc doesn't have the needed things for a MDD installation. Only the copy from the MDD's restore discs will work.

If you don't need it for programs you already possess I could only think of Gaming or curiosity. Of course you can do several things with OS9, but why, when you are doing it already under OS X?

It matters. Especially for the newer G4 Macs.

Leopard doesn't have a Classic mode. Tiger was the last to have that feature.

I've gotten 12.04 working rather well on a G4 iMac.

Ubuntu usually works out of the box for most home computers. As far as Ubuntu working the iMac G4, it worked pretty well with no needed changes.
