Use iphone 2g in italy

Hey guys,
I`m going to Italy for a couple of weeks and I want to use my iphone there. I´m from Germany and roaming is expensive... especially for data. Since my phone is unlocked I was thinking about getting just a prepaid card for the time .... Can anyone recommend me a provider that is not too expensive an supports edge ? Also do you guys know if I manually have to enter the settings like apn and stuff ? I used to have the option in my phone but now I can´t seem to find it anywhere ...

The only carrier supporting Edge in iTaly (hehe thought it was a good pun) is Tim.

You can get a prepaid sim card and activate either:

"Maxxi Internet 10": gives you 50MB/day for 30 days - 10 euro

"Maxxi Alice Facile Recharge": gives you 1GB/month - 20 euro

"Maxxi Alice 30h": gives you 30 hours/month - 15 euro
